MEDIA RELEASE: 09/05/19
On September 4, 2019, at approximately 2305 hours, Marshalltown Police Officers, working routine patrol, heard several gunshots near the corner of 3rd Street and Madison Street. When officers arrived in the area, they found evidence of the shooting. Witnesses advised officers of a physical assault that had occurred before the shooting and provided a description of the suspect involved in both the assault and the shooting near the intersection. The suspect fled the scene in a motor vehicle. No one was injured from the gunshots. Deputies from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office located the suspect vehicle being driven by the suspect in the Des Moines Area. The suspect was transported back to the Marshalltown Police Department for questioning. While conducting their investigation, Officers arrested Korki Recoh Wilbourn, 32 years old, Marshalltown, Iowa on the following charges:
• (2 Counts) Attempted Murder – Class “B” Felony
• Possession of a Firearm as a Convicted Felon – Class “D” Felony
• Going Armed with Intent – Class “D” Felony
• Reckless Use of a Firearm – Aggravated Misdemeanor
• Serious Assault – Serious Misdemeanor
• Driving Under Suspension or Revoked – Serious Misdemeanor
