The City of Marshalltown is hosting a public open house at
the Marshalltown Public Library on August 22, 2019 from 5pm to 7pm to solicit
public feedback on the City of Marshalltown ADA Transition Plan and Inventory.
Please attend to the open house to provide your input on the process and assist
project staff with the identification of barriers to accessibility within the City
of Marshalltown’s pedestrian infrastructure system.
The City of Marshalltown is performing a Self-Evaluation of
the policies, practices and pedestrian infrastructure within public
rights-of-way to identify ADA deficiencies that pose barriers to safe and
efficient access for all users. The evaluation began May 2019 and is nearly
completed. The results of the evaluation will be included in the City of
Marshalltown ADA Transition Plan that will provide a plan and schedule for the removal
of accessibility barriers within public rights-of-way.
The City encourages all residents, especially individuals
with short- or long-term disabilities, or groups representing individuals with
disabilities, to attend the open house for an opportunity to advise project
staff on locations that pose barriers to accessibility in the community.
