The City of Marshalltown is in the process of reviewing and adopting a new edition of the International Fire Code (IFC)(2015). Open burning, which covers the burning of garbage/trash and yard waste (leaves, weeds, small sticks and branches), is a part of the fire code and is under review. Presently the burning of vegetative yard waste is allowed, however the burning of garbage/trash is prohibited. The purpose of the survey is to solicit input from residents concerning open burning.
