MARSHALLTOWN, IOWA — The Marshalltown Parks and Recreation Department is proud to recognize the accomplishments of local Special Olympics athletes who recently competed at the Central District Bowling Competition held Friday, October 17, at Perfect Games in Ames. A total of 23 athletes represented the Marshalltown Special Olympics program, demonstrating outstanding sportsmanship, determination, and teamwork throughout the event.
Six athletes earned advancement to the State Bowling Competition: Andrew Allen, Rose Cormeny, Janessa Cronin, Brandon Ecklor, Jason Nisley, and Madison Riesland.
These athletes will compete at the Special Olympics Iowa State Bowling Tournament in Waterloo on November 22. The tournament will be held at Cadillac XBC (650 La Porte Rd, Waterloo, IA 50702) Competition is scheduled to run from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm.
“We’re incredibly proud of all our athletes who competed,” said Jennifer Hart, Recreation Supervisor. “Their hard work, dedication, and positive spirit are a great example of what makes our community so special.”
The Marshalltown Parks and Recreation Department oversees the local Special Olympics program, offering a variety of year-round athletic opportunities for individuals with intellectual disabilities. The program emphasizes inclusion, skill-building, and fun for all participants.
