On August 16th, 2024, the Marshalltown Police Department started an investigation into a possible sexual abuse involving a 12-year-old female victim. Through the subsequent investigation a male DNA profile was obtained. A search of CODIS (Combined DNA Index System) on February 6th, 2025 showed a match to a 26-year-old male who was already in custody.
On April 10th, 2025, Trequan Merez Cosgrove, 26, of Marshalltown, was served at the Marshall County Jail on the following charge:
Sexual Abuse – 2nd Degree a Class “B” Felony
(A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.)
