The Center Street Viaduct (over the UP Railroad) has a 10 Ton weight limit in effect. Vehicles over should be detouring on the 3rd Ave or 3rd/6th St Viaducts. The city is working towards rehabilitation of the viaduct, specifically the roller bearings that necessitated the weight limit.
Designs have been completed for Phase 1 of the Center Street Viaduct repair; however, due to the cost estimate of the project being approximately $4 Million, the city elected to apply for Highway Bridge Program grant funding in the amount of $1.5 Million towards the construction.
We anticipate hearing on funding by the end of the year. If successful, requirements of the funding program will delay bidding to late 2024 with construction later in 2025.
