[ARCHIVED] The Marshalltown Police Department is Open for Business!

Marshalltown Police Badge

Due to COVID-19, we are making some temporary changes to our operations in an effort to keep our team members healthy so we can continue to provide critical public safety services.  We want the public to know we are here and we are committed now more than ever to serving our community with passion and compassion.  Marshalltown is a strong community.  We are all in this together.

Some things to note:

911 is fully staffed and prepared for all emergencies.  Call 911 for emergency needs 24/7.

You can also call our non-emergency number 24/7.  That number is 641.754.5725.  Again, we are providing full law enforcement services.  If you need us, or have a question related to a non-emergency need, call.

The Marshalltown PD is operating out of the new police-fire building located at 909 South 2nd Street.  You can still come to this building to seek law enforcement assistance.  The front vestibule, greeting area is open.  There is a video phone in the vestibule that you can use to seek help.  An officer will meet you at the building when necessary.  Access to our building is similar to what overnight and weekend access would normally be.  This is not a big change.  Again, you can come to us if you need to.  If you do not need to visit the police department, we recommend you call us.  We are trying to handle non-emergency issues over the phone when we can.

If you need a copy of a police report, or have a question about a police record, we ask that you call our Records Unit at 641.754.5750.  The Records Unit is open Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  We can email or mail you copies of police records.

The following services are suspended temporarily:

2020 MPD Citizens Academy (Postponed to August)

Civilian Ride-Along Program

Public Fingerprinting Services

Building Tours

Community Presentations & Public Education Talks

Our officers are still patrolling throughout the community.  Nothing has changed with our patrol services.  If you have contact with a police officer, they will not shake hands (remember the President and the Governor reminds all of us to not shake hands) but they will greet you with a friendly smile.  In the spirit of social distancing, officers will also keep their distance when they can (remember the President and the Governor recommend 6 feet).  The officers will still be willing to help you and provide you with courteous law enforcement services.

If you have questions about police operations or if there is anything I can assist you with, email me at mtupper@marshalltown-ia.gov or call me at 641.754.5771.

Long story, short…we are still here.  We are not going anywhere.  You can count on us and we are counting on you.  Marshalltown always steps up during times of crisis.  We are doing so again!  Keep up the good fight everyone.  It is going to be okay.  Love your neighbor and take care of each other.  We got this.  #MarshalltownStrong
