On Wednesday, January 15, 2020, Chief of Police Michael Tupper recognized Lt. Rick Bellile, City Councilperson Al Hoop and Sgt. Ben Veren (Marshall County Sheriff’s Office) for outstanding efforts in support of public safety and specifically child passenger safety in Marshalltown. These distinguished community members have provided exemplary service and have passionately led the charge to make sure kids have access to child safety seats. They have been equally passionate about providing education for families about the importance of utilizing child safety seats and ensuring the proper installation of these seats.
Chief Tupper stated, “Rick, Ben and Al have been tireless advocates for child passenger safety. Their leadership and commitment has allowed local law enforcement to serve countless families by providing critically important child safety seats and safety education to those in need.”
For their outstanding work, and in recognition of their public service, Chief Tupper presented the department’s Distinguished Service Award.
