The Marshalltown Police Department is proud to announce the promotion of Officer Anthony “AJ” Accola to the position of Patrol Sergeant. Sergeant Accola begins his new assignment on July 1, 2019, and has been appointed to the police department’s ‘Night Shift A’ 12-hour patrol shift lead by Lieutenant Kiel Stevenson.
Sergeant Accola comes to us from the city of Ames, Iowa. He is a graduate of the Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) in Ankeny, Iowa and is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice. Sergeant Accola was hired by the Marshalltown Police Department in November 2009 and has been involved in many activities inside and outside our department during his law enforcement career. Within our agency, Sergeant Accola has held the positions of SWAT Team Member, Field Training Officer (FTO), Standardized Field Sobriety Testing Instructor, and a department instructor in Less Lethal Tactics and Chemical Munitions. He is also an active member of the Iowa National Guard 186th Military Police Company.
We would like to congratulate Sergeant Accola on his new promotion. His work inside and outside our agency continues to be outstanding and we are very excited to have Sergeant Accola as a new member of our leadership team.
