MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH - UPDATE
On May 15, 2019 at 3:29 pm, officers and first responders were dispatched to 13th St and W. Main St in Marshalltown on the report of a child struck by a vehicle. The child was transported to Unity Point Hospital in Marshalltown then flown to Iowa Methodist in Des Moines where he later died of his injuries.
The 8-year-old child, who attended Franklin Elementary Schoo, was on his way home from school when the crash occurred. According to witness statements, the child was crossing Main St. when he was struck by a vehicle turning east onto Main St from the 10 blk of S. 13th St. The driver of the striking vehicle was identified as Marilyn Diggins, age 71 of Marshalltown.
The investigation into the crash continues.

On 5-15-19 at 1529 hours, officers and first responders were dispatched to the intersection of 13th Street and West Main Street for a motor vehicle accident involving elementary age child. The victim was transported to Unity Point Hospital in Marshalltown then flown to Iowa Methodist in Des Moines. The investigation into this is continuing.
