City of Marshalltown and Marshall County Lower Flags to Honor Supervisor Kevin Goodman
Marshalltown, Iowa —January 12, 2026 — The City of Marshalltown and Marshall County have lowered flags at City and County facilities to half-staff in honor and remembrance of Kevin Goodman, a member of the Marshall County Board of Supervisors, who tragically passed away.
Supervisor Goodman served Marshall County with dedication and a strong commitment to public service. His leadership and thoughtful approach to governance made a meaningful impact on the community, and his loss is deeply felt by colleagues, public servants, and residents throughout Marshall County.
“Kevin Goodman was a thoughtful and highly capable Supervisor, and the City Council and I were looking forward to working with him in the future,” said Mike Ladehoff, Mayor of Marshalltown.
In a joint statement, Marshall County Board of Supervisors Carol Hibbs and Jarrett Heil said, “Kevin lived a remarkable life filled with family, adventure, and service to his community. We will remember his passion for serving his community.”
While flag-lowering orders are often issued by the Governor or President, local governments may also lower flags at City and County facilities to recognize the passing of local public officials whose service has had a significant impact on the community. The City and County have chosen to do so in this instance to honor Supervisor Goodman’s service and to express condolences to his family, colleagues, and the broader community.
Flags will remain at half-staff at City and County facilities until the funeral services, after which they will be returned to full staff.
The City of Marshalltown and Marshall County extend their deepest sympathies to Supervisor Goodman’s family, friends, and fellow members of the Marshall County Board of Supervisors during this difficult time.
