MPD 2025 Citizen’s Police Academy
The Marshalltown Police Department staff is seeking community members to participate in the upcoming 2025 Citizen Police Academy. The curriculum and teaching methods are similar to those of the traditional police academy, but the academy's students are not potential police officers.
The purpose of the Citizen Police Academy is to build a better understanding between citizens and the police, through education. Participants will become familiar with the operation of the Marshalltown Police Department and gain a deeper understanding of the problems the police and the community are facing. The classes will cover criminal law, police procedures, and community relations. Active class participation is encouraged during each session.
The Citizen Police Academy will begin on March 11, 2025, at the Marshalltown Police Department, 909 South 2nd Street. Classes will be held on Tuesdays from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. for the duration of the Academy.
If you would like to participate in and need an application or more information about the 2025 Marshalltown Police Department Citizen Academy, please contact Police Chief Chris Jones at (641) 754-5771 or cjones@marshalltown-ia.gov.
