On November 19, 2024, at approximately 2:31pm, officers were dispatched to Walmart (2802 South Center Street) in Marshalltown for the report of an intoxicated subject.
Officers arrived on scene and made contact with the subject in his vehicle, the driver was identified as Aaron Parrish Scalabrini. During the contact Scalabrini fled, backing into a patrol car and an additional parked vehicle in the lot. The other vehicle was occupied and the occupant sustained a minor injury.
A short pursuit ensued to the 2600 block of S Center St (HWY 14) where officers attempted to terminate the pursuit. Scalabrini then began driving erratically in reverse and officers used their patrol vehicles to stop him. During the process of ending the pursuit, two Marshalltown Police Department patrol vehicles sustained damage. Scalabrini was taken into custody and booked into the Marshall County Jail. No Marshalltown Police Department officers were injured in the incident.
Aaron Parrish Scalabrini, age 54, of Newton was charged with:
- Eluding (Aggravated Misdemeanor)
- Operation While Intoxicated (OWI) 1st Offense (Serious Misdemeanor)
- Driving While Revoked for OWI Test Failure (Serious Misdemeanor)
- Interference with Official Acts (Simple Misdemeanor)
- Public Urination (Simple Misdemeanor)
14 Counts of Traffic Violations (Scheduled and Non-Scheduled Violations)
