On February 13, 2024, the Marshalltown Police Department initiated an investigation involving an assault allegation that occurred at Miller Middle School on February 12. A 13-year-old, male student reported he had been assaulted by his teacher while in class.
Following an investigation of this allegation, the Marshalltown Police Department arrested Paul Philip Miller, age 60, of Boone. Mr. Miller has been charged with assault causing bodily injury (serious misdemeanor). Mr. Miller was taken into custody on February 17. Mr. Miller has since been released after posting bond.
(A criminal charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.)
