Posted on: January 4, 2024[ARCHIVED] Safety is a Top Priority

As we all monitor unfolding events in Perry, we remind the community of the importance of working closely with local law enforcement and the school district to keep our community safe. Be cautious about what you share and post today on social media. There is a lot of misinformation on social media when these events occur.
The Marshalltown Police Department works daily with the school district to keep our schools safe. The safety of your children and of school staff is priority one.
We communicate routinely with the school district to discuss safety and to share concerns. Here is where you come in, if you see something, you must say something. If you hear something, you must report it. We can't take safety for granted and we must all be a part of the effort to maintain safe schools and a safe community.
The Safe + Sound Iowa school threat reporting tool is one resource available to all us. You can find more information by visiting the website here:
https://dps.iowa.gov/SafeandSoundIowa.
Public safety concerns can also be reported by calling 911 or our 24/7 non-emergency number 641.754.5725.
Please keep the Perry community in your thoughts and prayers.
Be safe Marshalltown!
