On August 29, 2023, at 9:37pm, police officers and medical personnel were dispatched to the area of North Street and North 1st Avenue in Marshalltown for a report of a drive by shooting. An 18-year-old male suffered a gun-shot wound and was transported to Unity Point Hospital for treatment. A nearby apartment building also sustained damage during the shooting.
The Marshalltown Police Department conducted a lengthy investigation into this crime and eventually a suspect was developed. During this investigation, it was discovered the suspect had a warrant for his arrest out of Oklahoma for armed robbery. On December 22, 2023, officers and detectives from the Marshalltown Police Department located the male suspect and took him into custody without incident.
Tyree Letrell Rudolph, age 18, was arrested for the below listed criminal offenses:
- Attempt to Commit Murder (Class B Felony)
- Going Armed with Intent (Class D Felony)
- Reckless Use of a Firearm Causing Property Damage (Aggravated Misdemeanor)
- Possession of Dangerous Weapons by a Minor (Serious Misdemeanor)
