On Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at 11:46am, the Marshalltown Police Department received a report of a disturbance outside of the Hampton Inn, located at 20 Iowa Ave. East. The suspect was reported to be Jakub Aaron Wright, age 42, of Marshalltown and he had an active warrant for his arrest. Mr. Wright left the area in a vehicle just as officers were arriving on scene. Officers located Mr. Wright driving the vehicle nearby and when officers attempted to stop him, he fled. Officers pursued him as he fled into rural Marshall County. Deputies with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office then joined the pursuit. The pursuit concluded in a farm field, where Mr. Wright then fled on foot. Officers/Deputies gave chase and apprehended him a short time later.
Jakub Wright was arrested for the following:
- Arrest Warrant for Burglary in the Third Degree (Class D Felony)
- Eluding – Second of Subsequent Offense (Class C Felony)
- Reckless Driving (Simple Misdemeanor)
- Driving with a Suspended License (Simple Misdemeanor)
- Speeding (Simple Misdemeanor)
- Failure to Obey a Stop Sign – 2 counts (Simple Misdemeanor)
- Interference with Official Acts – (Simple Misdemeanor)

Mr. Wright was booked into the Marshall County Jail and is being held pending an initial court appearance.
The Marshalltown Police Department was assisted by the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa State Patrol during this incident.
