On May 7, 2023 at approximately 8:11 AM medics and officers were dispatched to the 300 block of South 1st Street for a disturbance with a subject bleeding. An adult male was found with a stab wound to the chest. He was transported to the Unity Point Emergency Room by EMS with serious injuries. A second male, Friday Billy, was found in the area with minor injuries. The victim and witnesses identified Billy as the male who stabbed the victim. Both males know each other and are related. Billy was arrested without incident and treated for his injuries. The Marshalltown Police Department was assisted in this incident by the Marshalltown Fire Department and Unity Point EMS.
Billy Friday, age 26, of Marshalltown was charged with the following crimes:
- Attempted Murder (Class B Felony)
- Domestic Abuse Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Aggravated Misdemeanor)
- Child Endangerment (Aggravated Misdemeanor)
