Spring is in the air! Really!
Spring is a great time to do a little house cleaning. Do you have expired over the counter and prescription drugs in your home? You should clean those out and properly dispose of them. DO NOT dump these medications into the toilet. DO dispose of these medications properly by utilizing a drug take back facility.
Too often, unused prescription drugs find their way into the wrong hands. That's dangerous and often tragic. The Marshalltown Police Department has a drug drop box available for public use 24/7 inside the front door of the police and fire building (look for the safe room in the main vestibule) located at 909 South 2nd Street. You can drop off your over the counter medications and prescription drugs into this box free of charge. You do not need to talk to anyone. Just drop the items and go about your day.
We do have a couple important reminders though. Do not place fluids into the drop box and DO NOT place needles into the drop box. One of our police employees suffered an accidental needle stick last year while emptying the box. Please help us keep our team safe by not placing needles into the drop box.

Thank you!
