In December of 2015, the Marshalltown Police Department launched its Coffee with a Cop program with the first event at Hy-Vee in Marshalltown. That event was a huge success and we are excited to announce our first Coffee with a Cop event for 2023. Hy-Vee in Marshalltown will again be hosting Coffee with a Cop on April 11, 2023, from 7:30-9:00 AM. All community members are invited to attend.
“We hope community members will feel comfortable enough to ask questions, bring concerns, or simply get to know our police officers,” said Chief of Police Michael Tupper. “These interactions are the foundation of effective community partnerships.” A cup of coffee is a common bond. It brings people together and creates a relaxed atmosphere which we hope will promote open and honest dialogue about how we can work together as one community to tackle the issues facing our community.”
“This program has been well received by the community over the last 8 years,” said Lieutenant A.J. Accola. “Hy-Vee is one of our great community partners and I’m very excited for them to be hosting this event again.”
Coffee with a Cop aims to advance the practice of community policing through improving relationships between police officers and community members one cup of coffee at a time.
