On January 13, 2022, the Marshalltown Police Department began taking reports of vandalism throughout town. The information from each incident was consistent and quickly believed to be linked together. Several houses, businesses, and other personal property had been shot with a BB gun. The total damage was in excess of $10,000.
On January 18, 2022, the Marshalltown Police Department identified and located the vehicle involved in these incidents. During that contact, three juvenile males were located inside the vehicle. A search warrant was obtained for the vehicle and a BB gun and large quantity of BB’s were recovered from the vehicle.
Further investigation identified four juvenile males that stole multiple BB guns from a local business. The stolen BB guns were involved in the damage around Marshalltown. The four juvenile males have been charged with Criminal Mischief 1st and Theft 5th. This case has been referred to Juvenile Court Services.
