On January 3, 2022, the Marshalltown Police Department began an investigation into the death of Yannick Mangubu, age 30, of Marshalltown. Mr. Mangubu died on January 2, 2022. An autopsy determined Mr. Mangubu died as the result of injuries sustained after being stabbed.
On Monday, January 24, 2022, the Marshalltown Police Department and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation arrested Kalalizi Jean Baptiste Madogo, age 48, of Marshalltown. Mr. Madogo has been charged with Murder in the First Degree (Class A Felony). Mr. Madogo was booked into the Marshall County Jail and is being held pending an initial court appearance.
