Subdivisions
All new subdivisions in the City of Marshalltown and within 2 miles of the city limits must go through the Subdivision process with the City. The Subdivision process is approximately a three-month process, not including the time spent between the developer and their engineer.

The following is a general summary of the process.
- Step 1 Submit Preliminary Subdivision Plat to Zoning Office for Development Review.
- Step 2 Attend a Development Review Meeting to discuss staff comments on Preliminary Plat.
- Step 3 Submit revised (if applicable) Preliminary Plat to Zoning Office.
- Step 4 Attend a Plan and Zoning Commission meeting for review and recommendation to the City Council.
- Step 5 Attend a City Council meeting for final review and decision regarding the Preliminary Plat.
- Step 6 Submit Final Subdivision Plat to Zoning Office for Development Review.
- Step 7 Attend a Development Review meeting to discuss staff comments on Final Plat.
- Step 8 Submit revised (if applicable) Final Plat along with all of the required supporting documentation to Zoning Office.
- Step 9 Attend a Plan and Zoning Commission meeting for review and recommendation to the City Council.
- Step 10 Attend a Council Council meeting for final review and decision regarding the Final Plat.
- Step 11 Final Plat will be provided to the applicant for them to have recorded with the Office of the County Recorder at the Courthouse.
