[ARCHIVED] Marshalltown Police Department Promotion Announcement - Andy Cole Promoted to Police Sergeant

Andy Cole Promotion

The Marshalltown Police Department is proud to announce the promotion of Officer Andy Cole to the position of Sergeant.  Sergeant Cole begins his new assignment on January 4, 2021. He will be working the Marshalltown Police Department’s “Day Shift A”.

Sergeant Cole is a Marshalltown native graduating from Marshalltown High School in 1999.  In 2019, Sergeant Cole obtained his Master’s Degree from Mount Mercy University in Criminal Justice and has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration that he obtained from Graceland University in 2004.

Prior to coming to work for the Marshalltown Police Department in 2008, Sergeant Cole worked for the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office as a Dispatcher and as an Officer for the Lamoni Police Department.

Sergeant Cole is recognized for his work as a Drug Recognition Officer across the state of Iowa.  He has been a DRE since 2012 and in 2014 became a DRE instructor, where he teaches new DREs from all over the state of Iowa.  Sergeant Cole is very active in community related policing for the Marshalltown Police Department and has been very instrumental in the past few years with our Shop with a Cop program.

Sergeant Cole is married with two daughters and is a coach for the rural softball league and the Blue Wave Swim Team at the YMCA here in Marshalltown.  We congratulate Sergeant Cole on his promotion and are excited to have him as a new member on our leadership team.
