SNOW REMOVAL REMINDER FOR PRIVATE SNOW PLOWS

Snow

As snow is forecasted for the weekend, we would like to remind private snow plow operators of the city ordinance prohibiting snow deposits from private drives and parking spaces being placed on public streets.

City ordinance 57.001 states “it is unlawful for any person to push, pile, deposit or leave deposited any snow or frozen materials removed from any private drive or private parking area upon any public street or thoroughfare or upon or in front of the private drive of another”.

Placing snow in the public right-of-way can cause visibility issues, traffic congestion and safety issues.  In addition, it can remove salt used in de-icing and reduce efficiency in snow removal.
