[ARCHIVED] Marshalltown Fire Department Responds To House Fire

On June 24, 2020 at 8:12 am, the Marshalltown Fire Department (MFD) responded with Marshalltown Police Department (MPD) and Unity Point EMS to 12 E. Ferner Street on a reported house fire. Smoke was visible from several blocks away and on MPD arrival, the house was reported to be fully involved. The homeowner was on scene and stated everyone was out of the residence. On arrival, MFD personnel found heavy fire conditions in the residence and a defensive operation was initiated. The fire was brought under control using exterior hoselines, followed by interior operations to extinguish the remaining fire. Overhaul operations were completed to find and extinguish hotspots. No injuries are reported and damage is estimated at $70,000. At the time of this press release, investigation into the cause of the fire was still in progress. Fire crews were on scene for approximately 2 hours.
