Board and Commission Volunteer opportunities

Solid Waste Commission

Two public members, five year terms.

Monthly meetings at the Landfill office, mandatory meetings in November and May.


Electrician Examining Board 

One licensed journeyman, three years term.

One licensed as restricted, three years term.

One licensed contractor, three years term.

Meets infrequently, as needed.


Public Housing Advisory Governing Board

One Resident Advisory Board member, one year term.

Meets infrequently, as needed.


Dangerous Building Board of Appeals

One public member, term is indefinite.

Meets infrequently, as needed.


Electric Appeals Board

Three public members, six year terms.

Meets infrequently, as needed.


Housing Appeals Board

One member, indefinite term. Required experience: Iowa Registered Architect or Engineer

Meets infrequently, as needed.


Uniform Building Board of Appeals

One member, five year term.

Meets infrequently, as needed.


Please apply by completing the Volunteer Boards and Commission form. A paper form is available at the city clerk’s office.

Applications are reviewed by the Mayor. Appointments are made by the Mayor and ratified by the Council. The State of Iowa requires gender neutral board composition.
