The Marshalltown City Council has directed staff to move forward with grant-writing and fundraising for the renovation of the Coliseum. City Administrator Jessica Kinser stated that after many months, everything was known about an updated cost to complete the renovation and what insurance proceeds the City would receive. A resolution supporting the renovation will appear on the February 11th City Council agenda. The Coliseum received significant damage in the July 19, 2018, tornado, which tore off the roof and with it many important building systems. Emergency work resulted in a new roof on the facility and removal of damaged portions of the interior. The building is currently sitting empty awaiting further repairs.
