Police & Fire building construction update

Construction continues on the $17.5 million Police and Fire joint facility located on South 2nd Street. The building was designed by Prochaska and Associates from Omaha, Nebraska and the construction is managed by Story Construction from Ames, Iowa. Story Construction utilizes a continuous scheduling method to ensure all contractors are working towards completion of the new building.

Last week during an update meeting, Story and the contractors reevaluated the remaining work prior to occupancy. This scheduling application indicates that the building will not be complete until approximately March 1, 2019 due to contractor and weather delays. This new date is approximately 2 months behind schedule. The City planned schedule has anticipated occupancy of January 1, 2019 throughout the design and construction process.
