Property Damage Assessments
Immediately following the severe weather event on August 10, 2020, City staff began the process of conducting a community-wide damage assessment of properties in Marshalltown. A visual assessment was conducted and properties were assigned a classification based on the FEMA damage ranking system. This work was completed in order to identify the number of properties impacted so that it could be reported to Local, State and Federal Emergency Assistance Agencies.
Information was also used to identify potentially dangerous buildings that may have suffered major damage which could affect occupant safety. City staff has placarded properties which appear to have sustained significant damage. This does not mean that the structures are not able to be repaired. In most cases upon further assessment we anticipate the majority of structures will be repaired. Structures which are not repaired or demolished may be subject to future notifications by the City.
If you sustained damage to your property please complete the following form.
