"Monarchs and Milkweed for the Marshalltown Area"

September 15, 2018 join the Marshalltown Parks and Recreation Department, Marshall County Conservation Board, and Marshalltown Convention and Visitors Bureau for the 3rd Annual “Monarchs and Milkweed for the Marshalltown Area” event!

Bring your family and friends to this free program highlighting the plight of the amazing monarch butterfly.  Each family will receive a packet of milkweed or nectar plant seeds.  Pollinator plants will be giving while supplies last!


  • Fisher Community Center: 1:00 to 2:30 pm
    1:00 - Presentation on the monarch migration (Emily Herring)
    1:20 - Family crafts and activities
    2:15 - Milkweed seed packets given to each family 

2:30 - Leave for Grimes Farm (on your own)

  • Grimes Farm: 2:45 to 4:00 pm
    2:45 - 4:00 pm - Monarch tagging and release at Grimes Farm

T-shirts commemorating this special event will be available for $12 .
