Summer Blast Day Camp
Experienced staff lead this camp for youth entering grades 1 through 6. Youth will be with and make new friends, experience fun activities and have interesting opportunities. While campers will have a blast, parents give this program great reviews!
Camp days begin and end at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum, with many off-site activities throughout the week. Morning activities will include arts, crafts, play games, character education, library visits and free time to read. Afternoons are filled with swimming at the Marshalltown Family Aquatic Center Tuesday and Thursday afternoons and out of town field trips on Wednesdays.
The Summer School Lunch Program is utilized, when available. Children must bring their lunch when not provided.
Marshalltown Park and Rec is a registered daycare and accepts Iowa Child Care Assistance. Camp is held Monday – Friday and does not provide a daily drop-in option.
To enroll, complete a Summer Blast Enrollment Form and submit it along with a current immunization record for your child and payment for the week(s) attending (each are required in advance). The doctor or clinic may fax the immunization record to Park & Rec at (641) 754-5728.

* Weeks a Special Activity Fee is required to attend the out of town trip.

Out of town trips are scheduled on Wednesdays. Trips being planned include Palmer’s Family Fun ($5); The Iowa Children’s Museum; Perfect Games ($5); The Playstation ($5); Sky Zone; Blank Park Zoo; Field of Dreams; Adventureland ($25) and the Iowa State Capital.
Enroll early to ensure space for each specific week camp is needed. When maximum enrollment is reached for any week no additional enrollment will be accepted for that week. Participants may be added to a wait list for future enrolled if an opening becomes available. When a participant is unable to utilize a week previously enrolled, a cancellation notice must be received at the Parks and Recreation office prior to the start of that week. No credit or refund will be granted once that week has begin.
2018 details will be finalized when the last day of Marshalltown School and special activities are determined.
-Days: Monday through Friday (no daily or partial week option)
-Dates: June 6 to August 17 (no camp Wednesday, July 4)
-Times: 7:45 am to 5 pm
-Early Drop-Off: 6:45 to 7:45 am, with a $5 weekly fee
-Location: Veterans Memorial Coliseum - West Door (20 West State Street)
-Cost: $85* per week per child (includes a t-shirt) (excludes Special Activity fees)
-Discount: Purchase of an Aquatic Center season pass, provides a $10 discount each week
Pick up Time: 5 pm (to avoid a $5 late pick-up fee)
-Late Pick-up: Late pick-up requires special advanced arrangements of staff. Any child picked up after 5:15 pm will result in a $5 charge for every 15 minutes thereafter.
-Late payment fee: To avoid a $10 late payment fee, weekly fees (including any late pick-up fees) payment is required by Thursday of the preceding week attending.
*Aquatic Center Season Pass Discount - With the purchased of a season pass to the Marshalltown Family Aquatic Center for your child (children or family), receive a $10 discount per week per child from the weekly Summer Blast enrollment fee. Swim Lessons - Summer Blast will transport participants to 9 am swim lessons during Weeks 6 and 7 (July 9 - 19); and/or Weeks 9 and 10 (July 30 to August 9). Swim Lesson cost during Summer Blast is $50, which includes the $8 transportation fee. A Summer Blast staff member remains t the pool during the lesson. Please indicate the most appropriate swim lesson level number (ie. 3728.10) when enrolling a child in a swim lesson. Class sizes are limited so enroll early to ensure available space.
Special Activity Fees: To offset admission and transportation costs, a nominal fee for Palmer Family Fun on 6/13 of $5; Perfect Games on 6/27 of $5; The Play Station on 7/11 of $5; and Adventureland on 8/8 of $25 is required.
